Hello Region II Family!
My name is Hanna Armstrong, I am your 2023 Fall Regional Conference (FRC) Chairperson. On
behalf of the Region II Executive Board (REB), I would like to extend you a very warm welcome
to grow and fellowship with us from November 3rd through the 5th at The Main Hilton Norfolk
Hotel in Norfolk, Virginia for this year’s Region II Fall Regional Conference.
Developed to embrace our regional identity by resembling our nick name ‘R2’ and to reflect the
goals of the conference, this years’ FRC is the themed R.T.W.O: Reaching out, Tracking
Success, Waiving Confusion, and Optimizing Opportunities.
This conference holds a significant purpose – to provide an avenue for the NSBE leadership
community to Reach out to the Region 2 membership to provide updates on NSBE business,
guidance on career development, and openings for personal and professional growth. Our
foundation lies in academic excellence, professional success, and community impact.
Understanding that the intersectionality of these foundations can be unclear, the conference will
provide tools that will enable you to Track your Success into a clear journey to your goals.
Throughout the conference, a wide array of workshops will be available to Waive Confusion
on industry misconceptions, gain insights into various engineering roles across different
industries, provide guidance on advancing your engineering career, fostering leadership skills,
making a positive impact on the community, and developing your identity as a young Black
professional. Additionally, we encourage you to step outside your comfort zone and participate
in our regional competitions including the Academic Tech Bowl. To my NSBE Jr. participants, I
encourage you to participate in competitions such as the Try-Math-A-Lon and to attend
workshops and the NSBE College Fair where you will get to talk to your collegiate brothers and
sisters to learn about their experiences. To Professional attendees, I encourage you to Reach
Out to our collegiate members to remind them of the bright futures that they hold and to have
fun as you reflect on your time at NSBE. My hope for all participants is that you will Optimize
Opportunities provided for you to network, grow, and have fun so we will complete the
weekend as a better, brighter, and stronger version of the model region, Reion 2.
To my Region II family, on behalf of the Region II Executive Board, I extend a challenge: Let us
demonstrate to the world just how powerful we can be by living up to our title as the Model
Region. Embrace this challenge with enthusiasm, and prepare for an unforgettable weekend in
Norfolk, Virginia! From NSBE Jr. to NSBE Professional, this weekend promises to reignite your
passion and love for our illustrious organization. Our aim is to make this Fall Regional
Conference an event that Region II will remember forever.
With NSBE Love,
Hanna Armstrong
